We rolled out of Moab just after sunrise on Day 5 of the Utah BDR, rigs packed and ready for another stretch of trail. A few blocks east of town, the pavement gave way to sandstone at the entrance to Sand Flats Recreation Area — and from there, we climbed straight onto Hell’s Revenge.

It’s one of those trails that doesn’t need an introduction. The first fin rises up immediately, smooth and steep, and before you know it, you’re driving over ancient dunes turned to stone. The traction is unreal — rubber gripping rock where you wouldn’t think it could.

We didn’t take the extreme lines this time — no Hell’s Gate or Escalator — just a clean run through the main trail. Even so, it was everything Moab is known for: steep climbs, tight descents, and views that stretch across the Colorado River to the La Sals.

The exit turned out to be longer and tougher than we expected, but that’s part of it. Moab has a way of keeping you honest.
